Hillrom's comprehensive product and service offerings are used by health care providers across the health care continuum and around the world in hospitals, extended care facilities and home care settings to enhance the safety and quality of patient care.DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Work involves a wide range of difficult bench and hand operations requiring skill and a specific knowledge of several maintenance skills and general knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles and the construction and operation of various types of equipment and mechanisms to locate trouble and make repairs quickly on all types of equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned: * Essential Duties including supervisory responsibilities. * Answer service or trouble calls during normal hours; when on call; or in emergencies. * Diagnose, trace and isolate cause of malfunction or improper operation. * Direct the tear down of equipment, determine the extent of trouble, repair or replace defective parts or mechanisms, reassemble and adjust for proper operation. * Select and specify replacement parts. * Be part of the communication between outside vendors and manufacturers servicemen in troubleshooting, repair modification of new and existing equipment. * Diagnose fault, service, repair and maintain Numerical Control (N/C) equipment such as automatic welder, N/S bender, and automatic lathes and other electronic related equipment which employs printed circuit technology such as power supplies * Work with maintenance supervisors and maintenance clerk in requisition of material, parts and supplies for inventory of items for routine maintenance and repair. * Make available and file in Maintenance Office any sketches, wiring diagrams, drawing and written instructions for new or revised installations in plant, office or on grounds. * Be responsible for the maintenance activities in the absence of maintenance shift leader. Any discipline problems will be handles by maintenance supervisor. Keep supervisor informed of progress or work, and or any unusual problems. * Participate in training programs and outside seminars. Attend vendors and manufacturers training school. Maintain work areas and equipment in a clear and orderly condition. Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations. * Responsible for both quality and quantity of work: Participate in team activities and problem solving sessions as required. Communicate problems and/or solutions to appropriate person. Report any faulty equipment or unusual conditions to the maintenance supervisor. Must follow processes and procedures as written. As needed, document and/or chart data to aid in problem identifications, quality feedback and production scheduling. Troubleshoot problems when necessary. Train, instruct, and assist other operators in their duties as required to ensure a quality product and smooth flow. * Evaluate defective material and tooling, faulty operations, questionable conditions and potential work stoppages. Advise and recommend alternative to appropriate person. (May require the use of computer and telecommunication device.) Ensure that work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
