The Merchant Banking Division raises capital for companies by investing in corporate equity and debt, real estate equity and debt, and infrastructure-related assets and companies. The Real Estate Investing and Lending group provides investment and asset management services in the real estate market, partnering with other divisions and external parties as appropriate. Alternatives Capital Markets & Strategy (ACMS)is a firmwide group established in 2019 to oversee all institutional capital markets, capital raising, and strategy for alternative investments throughout Goldman Sachs. Engaging with both Goldman Sachs’ proprietary direct-investing programs and external managers’ open-architecture strategies, the ACMS Group centrally manages capital raising for all alternatives products and portfolio solutions for all institutional investors in alternatives, across private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, secondaries, GP stakes, impact investing, and absolute-return strategies.

The Client Strategy team within ACMS is responsible for building and growing relationships with existing and new LPs across our Alternatives franchise. The ACMS Client Strategy Team operates globally but is organized regionally and is responsible for delivering the full breadth of our Alternatives products and solutions to clients and prospects of the Firm. Team members are involved in determining client, channel and region specific strategies to deepen existing relationships and broaden our LP base. The Capital Markets team within ACMS is responsible for centrally managing product campaigns, gathering data and providing analytics to enhance the fundraising process. This individual would be responsible for the creation of client mapping, business plans and content supporting the sales process as well as building analytical tools for tracking progress, and would be highly integral to the fundraising process. Professional development initiatives are managed centrally across the entire ACMS Group, with regular opportunities to enhance expertise across all alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Merchant Banking Division.

Specific responsibilities

  • creation and maintenance of client business plans

  • preparation of briefings and materials for client meetings

  • maintaining and distributing client meeting notes

  • coordinating and assisting with follow-ups from client meetings

  • tracking of progress with clients across campaigns

  • tracking and sharing of alternatives news from the region

Basic qualifications

Strong academic background – finance or research preferred

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience

Fluent English

Solid analytical/logical mindset and attention to detail

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint

Creativity and entrepreneurial spirit

Commercial focus and interest in financial markets

Strong written and verbal communication skills (clear, concise, and confident) with the ability to manage internal and external relationships


Team minded

Strong project planning, organization, and time management

Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines ensuring high quality reports
