Goddard School Preschool Cook/ Floater in Carmel, Indiana

A Preschool Cook at The Goddard School is responsible for any food management the franchisee delegates. The food handler must have a good attention to detail and strong organizational skills. This is a part-time position 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.


A food handler must meet the following qualifications:

  • the ability to prepare food and serve food in accordance with all regulations;
  • the ability to understand and comply with the franchisee’s policies relating to food service and employment policies;
  • the ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents;
  • the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies; An offer of employment may be made contingent on the following:

  • A current physical examination by a physician (including a current tuberculin test or chest x-ray)

  • A current Serv-Safe certificate, Food Manager Certificate, or Food Safety Certificate
  • An approved criminal record check and drug screen as required by state regulations. The food handler is responsible for the duties outlined by the hiring manager, which includes the following:

  • Prepare and serve food to 125+ students per day;

  • Make sure that children with food allergies/restrictions are served the correct foods;
  • Maintain a neat and orderly kitchen;
  • Meet the guidelines that are set for our kitchen by state and our Quality Assurance;
  • Managing the food budget;
  • Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods;
  • Preparing menus that include healthy lunches and snacks;
  • Ensuring that the menus are always in compliance with state and federal regulations;
  • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling;
  • Maintaining appropriate portion sizes;
  • Ordering food and paper products. Job Type: Part-time

Our Floater Assistant Teacher Daily Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing lesson plans
  • Meeting the individual needs of the children- diapers, feeding, ect
  • Effectively and professionally communicating to Parents and fellow staff members
  • Participating in staff meetings and training events
  • Designing an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom
  • Interacting with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
  • Presenting expectations that are appropriate to the child's age and developmental level
  • Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem, intellectual stimulation, and social skills
  • Building teamwork
  • Using written assessment tools Assistant Teacher Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Prior experience preferred
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Strong written and communications skills
