Polaris Industries Supplier Quality Engineer in Elkhart, Indiana

Position Overview The Supplier Quality Engineer is a role critical to Polaris Boat's quality processes and its quest for overall product quality for our customers. The role is responsible for managing an assigned group of vendors to improve current production quality, manage new product introductions, and qualify and develop new vendors. The position partners with a sourcing counterpart to provide a common face to the vendor while working to support engineering and production in both daily issues as well as special projects. The role is new to the company and will be expected to develop tests, metrics, and control plans for suppliers. The SQE monitors supplier performance and implements audits, corrective actions, and control plans. Further, this role is the lead person of the commodity group for (NCMR) Nonconforming Material Report activity.

Essential Job Functions* For assigned suppliers, provide team leadership and project management for supplier quality investigations and improvements.* Execute the supplier audit program.* Work with outside suppliers to evaluate existing products quality levels and improvements.* Manage the Corrective Action Report program to include creation and monitoring to completion.* Provide evaluation of design changes from supplier perspectives. * Direct and perform engineering testing to ensure that newly designed sourced items are properly tested. Ensures testing is completed on time and within budget.* Provide timely updates to cross-functional teams and senior level management.* Work with Engineering, Supply Chain and Manufacturing on drawings, BOM, change notices and tests.* Lead warranty project teams, including integrated cross-function teams, in the execution of product improvements.* Execute Six Sigma programs where applicable * Work with design engineers to develop value add/value engineering projects as well as the evaluation of new parts to ensure they can be reasonably manufactured* Lead new production introduction launches with suppliers ensuring proper management of timelines, design to spec and quality standards* Develop productivity projects by partnering with suppliers, production and engineering to take costs out of purchase parts or our production processes.
