General Position Summary
The Project Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the integration of environmental health & safety services into the business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements on their assigned Project or Site. The Project Environmental Health & Safety Manager oversees responsibilities of their assigned Project or Site activities related to environmental health & safety services and has direct interaction with EHS Staff, Superintendents, Project Manager, Project Executive, and Corporate EHS Director.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Deploy and maintain a world class / industry leading corporate Environmental Health & Safety program for Industrial Contractors Skanska in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations
Responsible for compliance with all environmental health & safety regulatory requirements applicable to project specific activities
Work in conjunction with Project Operations to oversee the documentation of all incidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities
Develop, customize and implement employee and craft training/orientation program
Conduct and document work area assessments, property damage and personal injury investigations
Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures and implement appropriate corrective action, as required
Develop an ongoing cycle of safety topics that are communicated and insure that these topics are covered in the regularly scheduled job-site meetings.
Review and coordination of the filing of all incident and environmental, legal issues and general liability reports
Ensure investigations are properly conducted and reported to appropriate Corporate entities
Facilitate investigation root cause analysis
Work with the Environmental, Health & Safety team to provide top level expertise on safety and environmental subjects
In instances where there is non-compliance, shall immediately implement and maintain corrective actions
Perform inspections and monitor daily to confirm compliance with safety and environmental requirements
Implementation and compliance with all environmental aspects of the contract (cultural resources, air quality, noise and traffic control, all waste management, etc)
Daily assessments of site conditions and review of operational controls
Support the authority in providing communications to the community
Communicate and enforce Skanska Safety and Health Management Program
Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others

Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety / Health preferred, but experience may be considered
4 years of industry and/or environmental experience at the management level required
Knowledge and experience working with Regulatory Agencies such as, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and others as appropriate
Professional Certification (CSP/ASP/CHST) preferred
Work Environment/Job Conditions
This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems and conditions is required. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
