Job Summary

Acuity Brands is seeking a highly motived Area Leader, with experience driving improvement in a manufacturing or related environment. Responsibilities include; Supervising 8-20 hourly employees in a manufacturing environment. Drives safety, quality and productivity performance in accordance with lean principles, standard work and customer requirements. Determines daily manpower and work assignments for employees to adjust for fluctuations in demand. Approves payroll, administers corrective action and discipline as needed. May be scheduled on shifts and weekends without additional management support.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Drive KPIs +QDIP and continuous improvement, conduct root cause counter measure for misses in cycle time

  • Train employees in lean principles

  • Ensure compliance with appropriate safety and quality standards and requirements

  • Manage employee payroll, schedules employees and assigns overtime

  • Hold employees accountable to all plant rules, safety, quality and productivity standards and administer counseling and discipline as necessary

Administers collective bargaining agreement and subsequent disciplines


Required Experience and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • 2+ years in manufacturing environment, with experience in Lean preferred

  • Experience training adults in technical topics as well as problem solving, communication and conflict resolution

  • High degree of comfort with computer usage

  • Able to read, write and speak English

Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand 10-12 hours per day, lift, push, pull up to 40 pounds frequently. Must be able to see, hear and comprehend in a noisy, environment. Must be able to tolerate temperature ranges of 40 - 90 degrees F. May be assigned to work off shifts and/or weekend hours.

This position is continuous shift being 7 pm-7 am, rotating 2 days on and 2 days off with work on every other weekend
