Parkview Health Mental Health Technician in Fort Wayne, Indiana
SUMMARY The Emergency Department is located on the main floor at Parkview Randallia. The unit has 43 beds and treats patients of all different ages with medical, surgical, and mental health needs. The level of acuity can vary greatly from a basic medical need to a level 1 trauma.
This position will be responsible for providing direct patient care to all developmental populations which includes maintaining milieu/patient safety, providing skill building educational groups, and observing patient behavior/and pertinent documentation. Ability to drive PBH vehicles, transport patients, correspondence, mail, materials, cash, checks, and specimens within the hospital complex. Provides supportive services to promote optimal patient care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. Some college classes preferred.
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or be able to obtain during Parkview-provided orientation class. If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of auto insurance will be required in addition to driver’s license. CPI certification required within 90 days of hire. Parkview-provided certification classes offered.
At least 1 year of work experience in mental health field. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to attend all three days of New Hire (Monday - all day), Patient Care (Tuesday - all day), and Epic (Thursday – morning) training. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with lifting 100 pounds.
