Parkview North Hospital Patient Care Technician in Fort Wayne, Indiana
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN – Carew Med Surg Department at Parkview Randallia Hospital
SUMMARY The Carew Med Surg unit is located on the 2nd floor of the Carew tower at Parkview Randallia. This is a 24 bed Med Surg unit that tends to serve lower levels of acuity.
Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, Under the direction of a licensed Nurse and with respect for human dignity delivers a variety of high quality, basic patient care services that meet the needs and uniqueness of assigned patients. Is responsible for the delivery of quality care and service excellence; and adheres to the PH Standards of Behavior.
REQUIRED EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED. If candidate is at least 18 years of age but does not have a current High School diploma or GED, must meet the following requirements:
Must be actively working towards High School Diploma or GED and receive within 1 year of hire AND have a current CNA certification or have participated in a Health Occupations Education (HOE) program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet one of the following requirements:
current CNA, EMT, or paramedic certification
2 or more years of work experience in a healthcare-related field
currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotation (transcripts required)
must be able to complete a mandatory fulltime, two-week patient care training course
LICENSURE
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or be able to obtain during Parkview-provided orientation class. CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certifications preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer one year minimum of experience working in the patient care setting, preferably as a patient care giver. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to attend all three days of New Hire (Monday - all day), Patient Care (Tuesday - all day), and Epic (Thursday – afternoon) training.
