BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Quality Engineering for a position based in Fort Wayne Indiana. The position requires quality engineering experience that is necessary to focus on successful program execution of production and sustainment programs. This position will support manufacturing by representing the customer requirements and ensuring product quality. This position will also investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. The successful candidate will be a problem solver who will utilize analytical skills to find innovative solutions and present findings.

The responsibilities include:

  • Hardware inspections

  • First Article Inspections (FAI)

  • Facilitation of multifunctional Root Cause Corrective Actions

  • Quality Management System audits

  • Analysis of escape / defect data to drive continuous improvement/zero defects

  • Control of Non-conforming material including leading containment and disposition activities

  • Material Review Board and Failure Review Board

  • Manufacturing support for production build including Corrective Action Board and Configuration Control Board

  • Error Proofing

  • Documentation preparation of product for customer and/or DCMA acceptance (Sell off)

  • Utilize supplier scorecard/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of the individual suppliers

  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming product and assess suppliers' corrective actions

  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances

  • Review and Evaluation of First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102

  • Drive Zero Defect mentality with the supply base

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline and 6 years of experience or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree

  • Experience in a Defense Electronics Prime Contract environment

  • AS9100 or ISO 9000 working knowledge

  • Able to interpret drawings and specifications

  • Experience with electrical/mechanical inspections, product test, equipment and instrumentation

  • Experience leading Root Cause and Corrective Action activities

  • Experience with AS9201 First Article Inspection

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Working knowledge of supply chain logistics from raw material to finished goods.

  • Proficient experience with Special Process, Product Production Line Validation, test, equipment, instrumentation and qualification

  • Working knowledge of PWB/CCA inspection/test, equipment and instrumentation

  • Working knowledge of Cable/Harness inspection/test, equipment and instrumentation

  • Working knowledge and experience Environmental Stress Screening (ESS)

  • PPAP and PFMEA

  • Lean Six Sigma Analysis and Tools Experience

  • Effective interpersonal skills

  • Experience leading Root Cause and Corrective Action activities

  • Experience with AS9201 First Article Inspection

  • Attention to detail

  • Proficiency in MS Office Products including Work, Excel and Power Point
