Duke Realty Associate Attorney-Commercial Real Estate in Indianapolis, Indiana


Duke Realty, the nation’s leading pure-play, publicly traded, domestic-only, industrial property REIT with logistic/e-commerce properties in 20 major U.S. cities, has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Attorney to work in corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, IN. Candidates must be attracted to a fast paced environment where responsiveness and customer service are highly valued. A predisposition towards teamwork and personal responsibility and an aptitude for organization will be critical to a candidate’s success. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Initial drafting, revisions and blacklining of purchase and sale agreements and closing documents for the purchase and sale of both developed and undeveloped land, reviews title, survey, leases and other documents to assist in the performance of due diligence in connection with the Company’s activities for the purchase and sale of both developed and undeveloped land.

  • Initial drafting of ancillary documents (such as easements, and development agreements, closing instruction letters, etc.) in connection with the development or sale of real estate.

  • Initial drafting, revisions and blacklining of leases, amendments, terminations, subleases and assignments.

  • Handling miscellaneous issues and matters as requested by attorneys and internal departments (e.g., letters of credit, questions regarding protective covenants, etc.).

  • Preparing closing binders.

  • Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management from time to time.


  • Minimum 1-3 years of corporate or law firm experience. Experience in a corporate legal department and/or commercial real estate environment highly desired. Experience must include title and survey review and knowledge of buy/ sell transactions.

  • Possess strong initiative and effective organizational skills.

  • Attention to detail, high level of accuracy and ability to multitask and prioritize workload.

  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and interact with various levels of professionals.

  • Demonstrated experience working with MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience using track changes in Word.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • J.D. Degree and active license to practice law required.
