Aerotek Civil Engineer (Entry Level) in Indianapolis, Indiana
Our client is looking to hire 2 entry level Civil Engineers.
These individuals will initially do Field Engineering on Civil Construction/Public Works projects (roads, streets, underground utilities, sanitary/storm sewers, etc.) for a year or two and then transition into a Design Engineer position. During the winter months this person would be doing design engineering.
Our client would like an eager Civil Engineer that can work in the field to gain two seasons of construction field engineering experience that would provide the candidate with valuable civil engineering knowledge for potential design work in the future. During the winter season, they would like the applicant to have the desire and ability to be productive in the office assisting the Design Engineers with work in CAD/Civil 3D, quantity calculations and design computations.
Initial responsibilities would include:
Observe and monitor construction for conformance with contract documents, approved shop drawings/material submittal.
Record field observations monitor contractor's quality control and verify construction conforms to contractor's quality control plan.
Make field measurements, computations and records of acceptable work.
Prepare and maintain project records in accordance with their Engineering's, client's and government's standards.
During winter months and once person becomes a design engineer the candidate would assist the Design Engineers and perform the following tasks:
Quantity calculations & design computations
Geometric design of transportation infrastructure
Roadway design and INDOT process & procedure
Traffic signal/lighting design
Drainage design, pipe sizing, inlet spacing, culvert design & permitting
This is a first shift position and they have flex time (start sometime between 7AM-9AM) and the person will typically work 40-50 hours a week.

1) Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
2) Willingness to start on doing Field Engineering and then grow into Design Engineer.
COVID/REMOTE: Right now they have their design engineers working from both home and office. They would prefer candidates that would be open to working in the office at times and not 100% remote. However, they will do whatever the candidate is most comfortable with. At some point in the future they will be fully back in the office.
