The Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) is responsible for research, analysis, and commentary on investments, market, financial planning, retirement planning, and topics of interest to clients and advisors. To do this, we read, research, analyze, and write about these topics, to help retail clients turn research (and Insights) into action to achieve the desired results and to help our internal investment teams with research content on a broad variety of topics.
What you are good at
The primary responsibility of this position is to investigate key topics of interest to the individual investor focused on estate planning, wealth protections, trusts, tax, and other advanced wealth management techniques and to communicate those results to employees, business partners, advisors and clients. The work focuses on high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.
Examples of this work include: what are the key attributes of major trust types and their uses for individuals in wealth management? What strategies should high net worth and ultra-high net worth advisors and clients consider for asset protection and management? What key issues should advisors and clients use to manage family support or special needs? What key tax and insurance strategies should investors use to achieve wealth management goals?
This position reports to the Vice President, financial planning, income planning, and wealth managements of the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR) and will work extensively with Schwab’s asset management, Private Client, insurance, wealth management and client facing business units. The Director – High Net Worth – Wealth Management & Estate Planning Research will not work directly with clients but will serve as the subject matter expert on estate planning and wealth management. In addition, the Director will work with others at Schwab on new product design, client communications, and consulting assignments. The Director will also have public facing activities including Schwab publications and website, client events, employee education and media events.
What you have
Candidates should have at least ten years of relevant work experience, preferably working with or on behalf of individual investors and clients.
Expertise in high net worth and ultra-high net worth strategies including estate planning, wealth protection, trusts, and tax.
MBA, CPWA, and/or JD preferred.
Excellent writing and public speaking skills are a must as are the ability to work in a collaborative fashion with business units and partners.
