Goodwill Indy Goodwill Buildings and Grounds- Groundskeeper Crew Member in Indianapolis, Indiana
This is a great full time groundskeeper opportunity through Goodwill Commercial Services! The groundskeeper travels with a crew to take care of the grounds needs of various Goodwill buildings. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8a-4p.
This position maintains grounds of Goodwill retail stores, commercial or public property by performing the following. The position interfaces with Goodwill retail stores and other affiliated sites.
Demonstrating behavior consistent with Goodwill Industries Historic Values, Basic Principles and Standards of Conduct
Trim and edge around walks, flower beds and walls
Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches or twigs
Rake and bag leaves and other debris
Clean grounds and remove litter
Plant grass and flowers
Water lawns and shrubs
Clean our drainage ditches and culverts
Sharpen tools such as mower blades, weed cutters, edging tools and shears
Light store maintenance such as washing windows and painting dressing rooms
Flexibility in hours worked based on seasonal work load

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Less than high school education; but at least one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license is required
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to compute ratios to properly mix chemicals (oil and gas).
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
