ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs the following duties and other required activities as assigned. Must demonstrate competencies necessary to meet business requirements. Repairs, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, and performs preventative maintenance on all types of facility equipment including, but not limited to, steam heating and steam generation equipment, boilers, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical equipment, HVAC piping, compressed air systems, water and sewer piping, roofing systems, production machines and equipment, facilities equipment, and grounds. Provides operational support and preventative maintenance on all associated equipment as required. Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical devices and performing corrective actions as required. Ability to read and understand diagrams, blueprints, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications in order to perform proper repairs and maintenance. Makes complex repairs to equipment, buildings, and grounds using multiple trades skills, such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, sheet metal, masonry, mechanical, roofing, and other trades functions as required and necessary. Secures plant utilities and equipment including air, electric, gas, and water as required. Must possess extensive abilities in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing, and maintaining, unusually complex equipment and machinery. EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Graduate required as a minimum. Two or four year college or trade school degree in an appropriate technical program or field relating to maintenance preferred. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have journeyman level experience (10 or more years or possess a Journeyman card from a certified program plus at least 5 years in industry) in at least 1 trade or craft (electrician, millwright, mechanic) and extensive hands-on experience in the electrical, pipefitting, hydraulic, pneumatic, sheet metal and mechanical trades along with electronic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Proficient in the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, electrical diagrams, equipment manuals, and other forms of documentation. Use electrical and mechanical test equipment and hand tools. Be familiar with electrical and mechanical codes; in-depth knowledge of trade practices and proper use of trade tools. Working knowledge of industrial safety practices and OSHA / EPA code and regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically fit, able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Work requires extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing and sometimes working in awkward or uncomfortable positions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather as required. Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 25 feet or more. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (e.g. driver’s license, special tools, or restrictions, etc.) Must be able to work individually as well as with other tradespersons on a team. Must be able to obtain a secret clearance (as required). Some work outdoors in inclement weather is required. Some overtime work on nights and weekends is required.
