This facility builds pumps using a combination of purchased and internally machined component parts. Core competencies for this facility include milling, boring, turning, assembly, hydraulic testing, painting and packaging.
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining robust production technology for the Indianapolis facility. Responsibilities of this position include the development and successful implementation of investment plans aligned with our long-term business strategy. Leading the Manufacturing Engineering team and working in collaboration with the Continuous Improvement team this position will drive Lean Transformation efforts throughout the facility. This position is a key driver for continuous improvement implementing Lean Manufacturing concepts throughout our manufacturing operations. In addition, this position is responsible for all Maintenance and Toolroom employees and associated processes for the facility. Successful candidates for this position will have a history of working collaboratively across various functions to develop business plans for investment opportunities. This position requires a high level of leadership and accompanying skills.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify key and core technologies for the business aligned with our growth strategy.
Develop and maintain both short and long term capital investment plan for Indianapolis operation.
Research and develop business cases for investment in key manufacturing technology that allows for successful execution of our business strategies.
Review, develop, and maintain production standards and implement metrics to measure performance.
Improve and advance the development of management processes within Manufacturing Engineering for the plant.
Collaborate with Regional AME Resources on implementation of Manufacturing Engineering strategy and best practice.
Contribute to global process management and fulfillment of plant KPIs regarding NPI, PCT, and OPR.
Working with Plant Production and EH&S develop safer ways to do things and reduce the risk of injury.
Ensure product quality through proper equipment selection, validation, and maintenance.
Playing a key role in the Operations leadership team, helping to implement the operations strategy that will meet the requirements of our stakeholders and drive the operation forward.
Responsible for defining required resource levels and for creating a flexible cross-trained Manufacturing Engineering team for efficient use of employees and equipment.
Provides leadership and direction for Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Toolroom teams comprised of (16 employees) over two production shifts.
Collaborating with supervisory staff control day to day operations to maximize equipment uptime and machine utilization.
Responsible to manage and forecast cost center budgets related to job function.
Accountable for annual Performance & Development Dialog (PDD) process for team.
Develop plans to ensure all measures necessary are taken to deliver key results on a monthly basis, and locating the necessary resources to deliver all objectives on an annual basis.
Critically analyzing performance to identify areas for improvement.
Developing, resourcing, and implementing project plans to ensure necessary improvements are implemented and related objectives are met or exceeded.
Leads Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement project teams. Encourages personnel to become trained and actively participate in company excellence initiatives.
Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).

Familiar with Lean Manufacturing techniques
Familiar working with the following manufacturing operations: Milling, Boring, Turning, Assembly, Paint and Packaging
Familiar managing the maintenance and facility needs of a large manufacturing facility.
Familiarization with computers including: Microsoft Office™ (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Projects, etc.), Lotus Notes, SAP
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.
5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering in an environment where milling, boring, turning, assembly and testing is performed.
3-5 years of work experience with Lean Manufacturing Techniques
Previous experience leading a maintenance/facilities department preferred
Strong Business Management skills in the areas of (Planning, Budgeting, Working and Leading Others, Presenting and Communicating Information, Delivering Results, Meeting Customer Expectations, Adapting and Responding to Change.)
