Reporting into the Sr. Manager of Embedded Product Engineering, this role will be critical to delivering our business objectives by transforming very successful products into a platform supporting multiple product lines. We are seeking a talented, collaborative, high-energy individual who possesses an extensive technical expertise and a passion for software craftsmanship. The ideal candidate has significant experience with SaaS solutions, RESTful web services, and web applications that are of high quality, scalable, reliable, and performant.

This is a highly-visible technical role within the Clinical Effectiveness Engineering organization.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with product owner to understand, design, and size new product features and enhancements.

  • Write software utilizing agile engineering practices (Test Driven Development, Pair Programming, SOLID, etc.)

  • Write software in a manner that carefully considers the scalability, performance, resilience, availability, maintainability, security, deployment, testing, and monitoring needs.

  • Demonstrates a desire to learn new technologies

  • Collaborate with development team members to simplify our technical stack

  • Utilize Object Oriented Programming / Design knowledge to build testable and reusable APIs

  • Utilize UI, Service Layer and Database skills to complete vertically sliced user stories

  • Proactively learns, applies and shares technical competencies and best practices to continuously improve self, team, and organization

  • Demonstrates the ability to solve analytical problems both independently and with peers as the situation requires. This includes working with complex data structures

  • Systematically troubleshoots production issues and delivers timely resolutions

  • Applies technical and customer service skills to solve client problems and assist with high profile product implementations

  • Investigate technologies that can be leveraged in various product implementations

  • Plan and execute tasks within an Agile/Scrum/LeSS environment.

Job Qualifications

Education: BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience is required, with 2+ years' experience as a Sr. Engineer level.

  • Experience building customer facing products. The ideal candidate will have created SaaS and API solutions.

  • Experience with object-oriented programming/design with Java and a willingness to learn C#

  • Experience with API and REST design/implementation

  • Experience with server-side Java development and related technologies and tools, including IntelliJ, Gradle, Spring MVC, Spring IoC, Servlets, JDBC, XML, Apache, and Tomcat.

  • Experience with SQL and familiarity with database technologies including NoSQL, Oracle, SQL Server

  • Experience with automated unit and integration testing. TDD is a plus.

  • Experience with modern web UI frameworks such as Angular, React, jQuery, Bootstrap

  • Experience with agile development process (Scrum/LeSS) using agile tools (JIRA, Jenkins, etc.)

  • Experience using HTML/CSS/JavaScript to implement modular, high performance, and functional user interfaces

  • Experience working on Healthcare solutions, with familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements

  • Experience with SDLC tools like JIRA, GIT/BitBucket, IntelliJ, Visual Studio and Gradle.

  • Working knowledge of SOA or micro-service architectures is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of agile engineering practices (Test Driven Development, Pair Programming, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, SOLID, Refactoring, etc.)

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Demonstrated experience developing using Test Driven Development

  • Demonstrated experience developing pair programming

  • Demonstrated experience developing SaaS and API healthcare products is a plus.

  • Approaches work with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL database technologies, such as MongoDB/CosmosDB, is a plus.

  • Experience with Azure is a plus.

  • Tolerant of high degrees of ambiguity, good at resolving uncertainty, willing to backtrack and seek multiple solutions.
