Kelly Services Quality Engineer in Middlebury, Indiana

Kelly Engineering has a great opportunity for a Quality Engineer located in Middlebury, IN. DIRECT HIRE and relocation assistance provided!

Ideal candidate will have experience in an ASSEMBLY environment with root-cause analysis and working with cross-functional teams. Will spend 50-60% of the time on floor.

Position Summary :

As a key member of our Quality Assurance Team, you are responsible for providing technical leadership and supervision for all aspects of the quality program to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards. You will monitor and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine conformance of incoming raw materials, subassemblies, and finished product to established requirements. An additional responsibility will be the supervision of the inspection staff to ensure our product meet all specified requirements that department activities are consistent with business requirements, and providing support to the operation from a Quality discipline perspective. This position will be engaged in multiple projects at different phases of implementation.

What you will do :

  • Monitor the entire production cycle and perform / oversee regular evaluations to identify potential concerns.

  • Coordinate quality related activities between disciplines and functions of the organization.

  • Support continual improvement and corrective / preventive action processes with data driven disciplined problem-solving techniques to identify root cause(s) and associated resolution.

  • Work with teams to create Work Instructions and audit their use to assure standard work complicity.

  • Provide support for internal / external audits.

  • Develop and maintain reporting systems – analyze quality defects daily / weekly and communicate to relevant groups for the purpose of maximizing improvements.

  • Supervise the daily activities of the Quality Inspection team.

  • Lead and mentor employees in the use of quality tools, techniques, and methodologies to measure and monitor product quality.

  • Proactively make recommendations that support improvement in product quality, reliability, and overall performance.

  • Promote a customer-focused environment throughout the company by serving as the “voice of the customer” for quality and service-related topics that drive the achievement of customer expectations.

  • Be an active participant in ongoing plant improvement activities.

  • Ensure ongoing ISO9001 compliance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (technical field preferred).

  • One to three years related experience in manufacturing assembly Quality is required.

  • Strong mathematical and Microsoft Office computer skills required.

  • Strong customer service orientation with professional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess initiative to seek improvements.

  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of Quality Engineering and experience with ISO9000.

  • Proficiency with print reading is required. Familiarity with GD&T is a plus.

  • ASQ certifications recognized.
