Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana Coder I in Munster, Indiana
Accurately codes and abstracts assigned accounts utilizing computerized encoding software ensuring accurate reimbursement is captured via ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 code assignment while adhering to industry standards and state and federal rules and regulations. Responsible for finalizing all coding in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines and system financial goals. Educates physician and physician support staff regarding Official Coding Guidelines, CMS regulations, including LCD and NCD medical necessity policies. Responsible for accurately verifying medical necessity according to CMS LCD and NCD policies. Responsible for correctly coding all ICD-10-CM diagnoses for Outpatient Diagnostic and Therapeutic visits. Review and ensures that all outstanding accounts are charged and coded appropriately within specified timeframes.
To Qualify you Must Have:
+ + Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Technician or Administrator (RHIT or RHIA) or eligible status required.
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding required. Six months Medicare medical necessity experience preferred.
Must communicate well with physicians and physician support staff in order to resolve medical necessity and coding-related issues and questions.
Must communicate well with ancillary departments providing support and education as it pertains to medical necessity, documentation requirements and coding/billing related issues.
Must be detail-oriented and able to efficiently multi-task.
