Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-functional leadership to various lead employees. These employees may include direct reports such as Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Planner Schedulers, etc. as well as providing collaborative direction to leaders in other tactical areas including: Safety, Quality, and Production Control. Assist in the planning of operations and methods to utilize available skills, knowledge, experience, materials, machines and tools to the best advantage of meeting performance goals. Work closely with other Operations Managers, Quality Manager, and Safety to incorporate corporate goals into daily operations. Communicate plans and progress regularly with Plant Manager.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and training for Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Planner/Schedulers, etc. as applicable. Ensure that all supervisors and employees are provided with the proper training and motivation to be successful at meeting all Operation Plans goals. Communicate Company policy enthusiastically and in concert with the intent of the policy. Maintain conformance with Company work rules and policies; issue warnings for violations and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Communicate and work closely with personnel and the Plant Manager regarding these activities. Assist supervision with maintaining close surveillance over the following: use of safety devises, equipment/tools, supervise departmental housekeeping, maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions/practices, quality practices, workmanship and methods applications.

  • Develop plans and goals to support Continuous Improvement process. These plans will include goals, resource requirements, capital requirements, etc. This improvement activity should be directed at Safety, Quality, Process Cost Reduction, Manufacturing Expense Reduction, etc.

  • Oversee the hiring, placing, transferring, promoting, disciplining, training and discharging of personnel. Direct and oversee the approval process for weekly employee payroll hours, the processing and approval of employee paperwork to include vacation, personal leave, accident reports, return to work forms, etc. Provide recommendation for wage planning, conduct wage review, direct the handling of problem employees and take proper disciplinary action. Ensure that all employees are provided with the proper training and motivation to be successful at meeting all Company expectations for them.

  • Conduct Talent Development Discussions (TDD) with all direct reports. Facilitate TDD process for all salary and office hourly employees within manufacturing. Facilitate Performance Expectations Review (PER) for hourly employees. Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Coach, motivate and develop direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.

  • Develop annual budget for process cost. Coordinate with other Operations Managers to develop into expense and capital budgets. Work with Plant Manager and Personnel Leader to develop policy and programs in support of good employee relations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 5-7 years related experience required.

  • An associate degree in business or engineering along with 8 years related experience or four-year college degree, preferably in business administration or engineering with 3-5 years prior management experience or 7-10 years equivalent work experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required with a strong emphasis on all areas of communications, listening and speaking.

  • Ability to multi-task is important as is meeting deadlines and presentation skills.

  • Occasional travel and overnight stays (0-5%).
