Union Hospital PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN-UHTH TELEMETRY 2EB in TERRE HAUTE, Indiana
Contributes to the identification of actual or potential physical, psychosocial, pain, teaching, safety, spiritual, infection control and environmental needs.
Identifies patient needs/problems and report them appropriately to RN.
Provides input for discharge planning.
Completes simple dressing changes.
Is responsible for skin breakdown prevention and is aware of specialty mattresses and how to use them appropriately.
Is responsible for following mobility protocol specific to patients condition/procedure.
Is responsible for all prevention and utilizes bed alarms, seat belts, chair exit alarms appropriately.
Performs Hourly Rounding to address: Pain, Potty, Position, Possessions and documents appropriately.
Assists patients with ADLS.
Records and documents I/O properly.
Takes vital signs during blood transfusion and documents appropriately.
Reports changes in physical appearance of patient to nurse.
Assists with the collection of specimens/cultures.
Correctly applies aqua pads and ice bags.
Prepares rooms for admissions and transfers.
Participates in the evaluation of responses to the strategy of care.
The effectiveness of nursing interventions including patient teaching, pain management, and safety measures in relation to expected outcomes and takes appropriate actions.
Assists in meeting the learning needs of student through the use of communication skills, role-modeling and positive reinforcement.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
CNA certification by the State of Indiana required
Must complete PC T training and competencies
Current PC As employed April 2015 or prior are grandfathered into new role as PCT without CNA certification.
A currently enrolled nursing student, who has successfully completed an initial medical-surgical clinical rotation may be exempted from holding a CNA certification.
