Responsible for the design, development, and processing of implants and instruments under the direction of a project leader or manager. Good communication, teamwork and organizational skills are essential. An understanding of human physiology and joint mechanics is required.iPrincipal Duties and ResponsibilitiesiDesigning for manufacturability, inspectibility, and optimum cost. Generating prototype models to evaluate new design concepts. Coordinating product evaluation with surgeons. Generating comprehensive protocols for testing/analyzing the product. Generating design assurance documentation for the project. Remediating design history files with respect to critical/non-critical features.iExpected Areas of CompetenceiFamiliarity with drafting standards and geometric differences and tolerancing. Understanding of human physiology, joint mechanics and Computer-aided Design (CAD) technology. Active participation in development meetings with surgeons and key Zimmer personnel. Ability to effectively work within a team to expedite completion of critical project tasks with other functional groups. Helping to identify customer requirements for a new product.
