Mercury Systems Firmware Engineering Intern in West Lafayette, Indiana
Mercury Systems seeks students enrolled in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics or related disciplines to fill intern positions on firmware development project teams. Internships are available during the summer (full-time at 40 hours/week) at Mercury's offices in the Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, Indiana.
In this role you have the opportunity to
Work as part of a small, collaborative product team to design, develop, integrate, and test firmware in embedded and enterprise secure processing solutions.
Potential product team assignments may include:
Developing, integrating, and testing functional IP blocks for Intel, Microchip, and AMD (Xilinx) FPGAs
Modernizing existing FPGA firmware products for technology updates
Performing design verification through simulation, timing analysis, device debug, and performance characterization.
Collaborating with engineering teams to develop and modernize test infrastructure
Supporting design teams in bring-up and testing of software and firmware products
Working with systems engineering and customer support teams to reproduce and resolve issues
Collaborating with engineering teams to design and develop system architectures and hardware interfaces
Participating in requirements, design, and code reviews
Communicating project status and risks to the management team
Create training and educational short courses
Other duties as may be assigned
This role is part of
Mercury Systems' Secure Processing team. A team which creates sophisticated software, firmware, and hardware security products that protect critical IP on systems and applications from both domestic and international nation-state threats. Given the widespread use of mission critical software and firmware in military systems and industry today, it is essential that these systems be protected against the threats of tampering and reverse engineering by unauthorized entities. We have built a dynamic, team-oriented, and highly creative work environment.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
Enrolled in a 4-year technical degree program
Knowledge of Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
Familiar with FPGA design tools and workflow (Vivado, Libero, and/or Quartus)
Familiar with HDL verification tools (Modelsim and Questa)
Knowledge of Windows and Linux environments
Ability to write and review technical documentation
Troubleshooting and logic skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with lab equipment for data collection and processing
Experience with FPGA development boards
Experience with Tcl scripting language
Experience with Embedded Software Development (C, C++, and or Python)
Experience with embedded and real-time systems
