Townsend Tree Service is an operating unit of The Townsend Corporation providing tree-trimming, clearance and integrated vegetation management services for power and communication lines, pipelines and roadways.

Position Description

The Yard Manager is responsible for the overall management of the yard ensuring extremely efficient, safe organized yard operations. This position will assist with shipping and receiving tasks as well. The Yard Manager must have a great eye for attention to detail.

Duties Include

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the scheduling, ordering, repair, maintenance and disbursement of equipment and supplies in yard

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the office and yard facilities

  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment including generators, compressors, saws, chippers, skid loaders, etc.

  • Arranges for the repair of equipment and tools as needed with Shop Foreman

  • Provides and ensures maintenance plans for all tools and equipment are enforced

  • Manages the logistics of all material (location, flow of goods) to ensure proper storage avoiding congestion in yard

  • Manages the yard ensuring compliance with company cleanliness and housekeeping standards

Secondary Duties:

  • May assist with tracking and handling of incoming and outgoing materials

  • Responsible to assist with internal record-keeping

  • Responsible to aid in the coordination clerical responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and evaluate malfunctioning equipment and recommend corrective measures or repairs

  • Must possess a Commercial Driver License or attain in 90 days

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge and use of computer software. i.e. email, spreadsheets Excellent communication skills

  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position

  • Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations

  • Travel if required

  • Be at least 18 years of age, or 21 if CDL is required

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States


  • First Aid & CPR certified

  • OSHA 10 Certified

  • CDL A
